Who We Are

About Morning Lotus

Jennifer Reckner,
MA, LPC, NCC, PMH-C

Welcome! I’m Jennifer, a culturally humble psychotherapist who practices from an anti-oppressive, fat-positive framework. My work centers on the unique challenges caregivers face, including healthcare professionals, pregnant individuals, those trying to conceive, and postpartum parents. I bring a mind-body approach to healing, helping each client navigate their personal journey with compassion and resilience.

I’m an interpersonal and psychodynamic therapist, ready to help you discover your true potential and lead a more fulfilling life. Although we cannot change the past, we can work together to understand how it affects you now and find ways to overcome any challenges you face. I offer complementary therapy techniques to explore long-standing behavior patterns, stuck emotions, or negative perceptions.

Certification

With advanced training in NICU parenting and birth trauma, and a certification in perinatal mental health, I am passionate about supporting parents and caregivers during times of transition. As a former nurse, I also specialize in working with healthcare professionals who are dealing with moral injury, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, burnout, and other work-related stressors.

My Therapy

In therapy, I draw on Polyvagal Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Theory, and Sensorimotor interventions to offer a tailored, supportive experience. For trauma processing, I utilize EMDR, Brainspotting, and the Comprehensive Resource Model, both of which enable us to access healing on a deep, neurobiological level with memory reconsolidation.

Philosophy

Beyond my professional life, I am dedicated to anti-racism activism and enjoy reading, practicing Barre3, and finding new adventures in Madison to experience with my family. I’m also a mother to a wonderful daughter, who reminds me daily of the power of grit and connection. My family is multicultural, and we love celebrating Persian culture, especially through gathering with friends for poetry and music nights.

Education

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with academic distinction from Northwestern University and remain committed to creating an inclusive, affirming, supportive environment for my clients. If you’re navigating the demands of caregiving or seeking a space to heal and grow, I’m here to walk alongside you as we build resilience, community, and cultivate well-being together.
